We spent a few days at Stable Lodge and we really enjoyed it! We found the lodge very spacious and clean, the little garden was perfect for kids to run... read more around. Our kids (4.5yo and 2.5yo) were very excited to see horses passing by just outside the lodge, they could even stroke them. Just outside the farm there is a path that takes you to the centre of the village, you can also walk to the train station to watch the steam trains passing by - highly recommended! We also visited Minehead and spent some time on its sandy beach. We had a great time at Stable Lodge and we will be back!

Great communication from Simon and... read more Jill, the lodge was easy to find with detailed directions, and a simple check in. (Although we drove past the lodge initially as we were all too busy looking at the horses!)
The lodge was extremely comfortable and warm, with everything we could need for our stay.
Little details can make a real difference, there was tea/coffee and biscuits in the kitchen, and even some cooking oil should we have needed it.
Our 9 and 6 year olds were thrilled to wake up to peacocks wandering by each morning.

All in all a lovely stay, and a great base to explore Somerset and beyond.

We were greeted on arrival and left to it really, which we found excellent due to the information provided in the guest book etc. The area is unique, again we found this beautiful being on a working equestrian centre, the horses added an amazing touch. The location is great as well, a 5/10 minute walk from the local village; pubs, shops and food and then only a 10 minute drive to the sea. Only 20 minutes to Minehead too; that’s got a bit more going on, it’s perfect for everyone. We’d like to thank Simon and Jill for our trip away, every thing was perfect.

Jill was there to welcome us when we... read more arrived and on hand if we needed anything. Prior to arrival, she was always prompt in responding to emails. We bumped into her a few times during our stay and she was always welcoming and friendly.

Our daughter loved waking up every morning, opening the blind in her room and seeing the horses. She really enjoyed her riding lessons too.

Only a ten minute walk away is a train station and our son loved the journey on the steam train. There were plenty of other things to do close by as well, including beaches, a harbour and Dunster Castle.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay amd would definitely recommened the lodge to others.

A special mention also to Gwenda who took the riding lessons, she was patient with our daughter and gave her a lot of confidence. Also to Sandy the horse, our daughter loved you and was sad to leave.

  Thank you for a lovely stay at the lodge. We stayed the first night just 2 of us and it was lovely, nice and clean and perfect for what we... read more needed. It was nice seeing all the animals and my 6 year old cousin really enjoyed seeing the horses. I would say it’s not big enough for more than 2 adults and 2 children, there were 4 adults and 1 child on the second night and there wasn’t enough room for us all. I found it also quite expensive, paying nearly £300 for 2 nights for the size of the place. It was strange too how there were a lot of threat of ‘fines’ for different things, we were happy to strip the beds and leave on time if the book had asked nicely rather than threatening to fine, especially £5 per person. However it was a nice location near our Nan and we did enjoy our stay.

  It would be good to know about the horse disease before the arrival. Apart from that, it is a nice place to stay for a weekend.

The attached covered porch area doubles the living space and enables access to home amenities. The lodge is fully stocked and ready for a family stay, and there's even an enclosed garden where the kids can play safely and with privacy.
Simon and Jill were great hosts and helped us with anything we needed.

  Stay away for my son's 18th, the hosts were friendly along with the horses and peacocks, we took our 2 rescue dogs for the trip and they enjoyed sniffing around... read more the different scents. Apart from arriving and the temperature was zero degrees, once the log burner was flowing it didn't take too long to warm up.
It was very cozy, nice to chill out, relax, and watch all the horses out of the window come and go doing the riding lessons. We made the most of a wet and very windy stay during the storm.
