The Stable lodge was perfect for a week

The lodge is very well equipped, more than written on the description and the fact that there is a washing machine and a dishwasher is very useful for real holidays! Jill and Simon are very nice and always answer to our questions very quickly.

Lovely harbour town of Watchet around 5 mins drive. Has small shops, pubs and cafes. Direct access to the Somerset Coastal path from the rear of the property.   We had a great 2 nights stay. The accommodation was much better than we had expected, with lots of extra space via the conservatory and garden. There... read more were many nice touches such as milk in the fridge, tea bags and biscuits; just what we needed after a long drive up! The fairy lights were a big hit with the children, along with the horses and peacocks wandering around the garden and fields. If you’re a light sleeper and would like a lie in, I’d recommend bringing some earplugs as the accommodation is on a working equestrian centre. It was not an issue for us though and added immensely to the experience of our stay.

  Perfect stay for us for 2 nights. The weather wasn't on our side but the big dinning area made it easier for us.

  Lovely stay over New Year while visiting friends in the area. Weather was awful when we arrived but the lodge was warm & cosy and was kitted out with everything... read more we could need, including towels, tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, dog bowls etc. Great hosts - friendly, helpful and responsive. Lodge is on side of driveway and next to riding school area so there is some noise when lessons/ an event is on as when we were staying, but not unsociable hours. Very muddy around lodge due to very wet weather but conservatory area worked well to leave wet coats, shoes (and dogs!) in before entering main lodge. Nice, relaxed feel and great value for money. Jill was there to welcome us when we... read more arrived and on hand if we needed anything. Prior to arrival, she was always prompt in responding to emails. We bumped into her a few times during our stay and she was always welcoming and friendly.

Our daughter loved waking up every morning, opening the blind in her room and seeing the horses. She really enjoyed her riding lessons too.

Only a ten minute walk away is a train station and our son loved the journey on the steam train. There were plenty of other things to do close by as well, including beaches, a harbour and Dunster Castle.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay amd would definitely recommened the lodge to others.

A special mention also to Gwenda who took the riding lessons, she was patient with our daughter and gave her a lot of confidence. Also to Sandy the horse, our daughter loved you and was sad to leave.

  Stay away for my son's 18th, the hosts were friendly along with the horses and peacocks, we took our 2 rescue dogs for the trip and they enjoyed sniffing around... read more the different scents. Apart from arriving and the temperature was zero degrees, once the log burner was flowing it didn't take too long to warm up.
It was very cozy, nice to chill out, relax, and watch all the horses out of the window come and go doing the riding lessons. We made the most of a wet and very windy stay during the storm.

There was thoughtful touches... read more around the place including pretty fairy lights in the dining area and it was spotlessly clean, you can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into making this a nice place to stay. Comfy beds, nice fire, kitchen with a proper oven/fridge and freezer, all you could need, decent shower, comfy sofas, wardrobes, heating. Nice relaxing stay. View out of the window to see horses is special too. You also park your 1 car right next to your door, so handy if it is raining when you arrive. 🙂

The attached covered porch area doubles the living space and enables access to home amenities. The lodge is fully stocked and ready for a family stay, and there's even an enclosed garden where the kids can play safely and with privacy.
Simon and Jill were great hosts and helped us with anything we needed.
We had a wonderful time overall, and we highly recommend this spot.
